USDA Food Groups
Grains: Any food made from wheat, rice, oats, cornmeal, barley or another cereal grain is a grain product. At Food Outreach, grains include oatmeal, white or brown rice, pasta, cereals and more.
- Donate 2 weeks' worth of grains for a client: $10
- Donate 1 month's worth of grains for a client: $40
Vegetables and Fruits: Any vegetable/fruit or 100% vegetable/fruit juice counts as a member of the vegetable/fruit group. At Food Outreach, vegetables and fruits consist of various canned items including green beans, mixed greens, peaches, mandarin oranges, peaches as well as fresh produce such as potatoes, tomatoes, banannas and apples.
- Donate 2 weeks' worth of vegetables and fruit for a client: $20
- Donate 1 month's worth of vegetables and fruit for a client: $80
Dairy: All fluid milk products and many foods made from milk are considered part of this food group. At Food Outreach, our dairy items include various cheeses and more.
- Donate 2 weeks' worth of dairy for a client: $15
- Donate 1 month's worth of dairy for a client: $60
Protein: All foods made from meat, poultry, fish, dry beans or peas, eggs, nuts and seeds are considered part of this group. At Food Outreach, protein includes turkey, pork, hamburger, dried beans, peanut butter and more.
- Donate 2 weeks' worth of protein for a client: $70
- Donate 1 month's worth of protein for a client: $140
We greatly appreciate and accept most donated, non-perishable food products, but there are some items we need more than others. If you would like to donate specific products, please know that we are able to immediately incorporate the following canned foods into our nutrition center: tuna, turkey, chicken, salmon, corn, green beans, mixed vegetables, mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, and peaches.
